Bonnie Hamilton

Ms. Hamilton has been teaching professional singers in New York City for over twenty years. Her singers have performed leading roles with major opera companies throughout the world including the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, La Scala, The Royal Opera House, Bayerische Staatsoper, La Teâtre de la Monnaie as well as numerous other companies. She has taught top prizewinners of the following competitions: Naumberg, Leiderkranz, Tokyo International, Metropolitan Opera Council National Awards, National Opera Institute, Richard Tucker Foundation, and the Pavarotti International Competition. Several of her students have released solo recordings and can be heard in operatic or symphonic recordings with major conductors and orchestras. Ms. Hamilton was a member of the Juilliard Opera Center, where one of her many roles was “Lucia di Lammermoor”. She became a member of the Metropolitan Opera Studio, and later joined the company in leading roles. She has made several professional recordings as soprano soloist. Ms. Hamilton is presently Professor of Voice at the Mannes School of Music in New York City in addition to her duties at Purchase College where she is Professor of Voice, Italian Art Song Literature, and the graduate level courses of Operatic Styles and Teaching Techniques for the Voice.
